On Saturday, May 18th, The Clay Eichler Memorial Fund, through Clay’s Golf and Guitars event, raised $160,000 in support of The Salvation Army Boys & Girls Club of Texarkana.
The funds will help cover the cost of personnel and other existing Club needs – development of new sports program, operation and membership costs, ongoing existing programs for children in the community.
“This is the most generous gift from the most wonderful selfless group of hard-working volunteers in our community. We are forever thankful to The Clay Eichler Memorial Fund for raising money and awareness for the support of The Salvation Army Boys & Girls Club of Texarkana. Through this funding we can expand and continue to reach youth in our community,” said Major Louise Feeser, Commanding Officer of The Salvation Army Texarkana.
Presently, The Salvation Army Boys & Girls Club is serving more than 100 children through programs that enhance mental, social, emotional, and physical development through programs such as academics, art, STEM, and sports. In addition, a spiritual component is presented through daily devotionals, weekly character-building programming, and vacation bible school in the summer.
The Salvation Army Boys & Girls Club enables all young people, especially those who need us the most, to reach their full potential as productive, caring, responsible citizens. No matter why children first enter the doors, kids leave with the confidence the Club experience provides – a fun space, and a fostering environment where they can be who they are – and become who they are meant to be.
