This Saturday students, faculty, staff and alumni from Texas A&M University-Texarkana will show their appreciation to the Texarkana community during The Big Event: Eagle Pride City Wide, a day of community service. This annual event for A&M-Texarkana started last year. Participants in The Big Event complete “done-in-a-day” community service projects The Big Event has become a national phenomenon at a number of colleges and universities throughout the United States. It originated at Texas A&M University in 1982. Since that time, more than 100 universities have joined the effort.
Texarkana Independent School District is requesting parents/guardians of attending TISD students and community to provide feedback during their Progress Survey 2018 open through April 20. The online survey is compatible with any computer, tablet or smartphone. Paper surveys are also available from all TISD campuses. All responses are confidential and anonymous. $3 Million in street improvement projects is planned this year according to a plan the City Council approved Monday. A high-tech survey of every Texas-side street last year resulted in a list of nearly 100 repair and maintenance projects
About 57 percent of Texas-side pavement is rated satisfactory with 16 percent is rating poor, very poor or serious
