Three Ashdown High School Seniors have been chosen as recipients of a scholarship from the Small Business Enterprise Serenity Café at Ashdown High School. The School Based Enterprise is an entrepreneurial operation in a school setting that is managed and operated by students. The School Based Enterprise coffee shop was developed by Shauna Tipton, Business Education teacher, through a grant from the Arkansas Department of Career Education and is in its third year of operation. The receipients of this year’s scholarships are: Casey Thompson $300 scholarship a 2 year manager of the SBE, Gregory Shumake, $300 scholarship – a 2 year Co-Manager of the SBE, and Peyton Reed, $200 scholarship, a 2 year Assistant Manager of the SBE. These students were selected on the basis of quality of work, amount of work time, attitude and initiative. These students helped to get the coffee shop started 3 years ago and spent many hours of outside school time working in the operation.
