Judge rules some clinics in Texas can still perform abortions

According to a Harris County judge, providers at some Texas clinics can resume abortions up to six weeks.

The District Court judge’s ruling arrived on the heels of more than half a dozen abortion providers filing a lawsuit against Texas over pre-Roe laws that Attorney General Ken Paxton said could be enforced after Roe vs. Wade was overturned by the Supreme Court last week, specifically an advisory stating that providers could be held liable for performing abortion procedures.  The judge’s ruling will prevent the statute from being enforced until Texas’ trigger law goes into effect.  Paxton said that he will immediately appeal the decision.
