51 Dogs Rescued From Former Ashdown Animal Facility

A national animal protection group has rescued 51 large dogs from a former rescue property in Ashdown, Arkansas, following a court-ordered shutdown of the facility.

A national animal protection group has rescued 51 large dogs from a former rescue property in Ashdown, Arkansas, following a court-ordered shutdown of the facility.

Animal Rescue Corps, known as ARC, says the dogs had been living in increasingly restrictive conditions for years. The rescue effort, called Operation Broken Ties, began after ARC learned no one was stepping in to help the animals.

ARC Executive Director Tim Woodward said the focus now is giving the dogs the space, care, and stability they’ve been missing.

Most of the dogs are friendly, large breeds and have been spayed or neutered. They were moved to outdoor kennels before the rescue team arrived.

The dogs have been transported to ARC’s Rescue Center near Nashville, Tennessee, where they’ll receive veterinary care and long-term placement planning.

Operation Broken Ties is ARC’s third major rescue of 2026, bringing the total number of dogs rescued in the past six weeks to more than 100.
