A Maud woman is facing charges after a fatal crash on Highway 8 near New Boston. Authorities say 51-year-old Stephanie Diane Fannin was intoxicated when she drove a 2024 Ford F-150 into a ditch on June 29, killing her passenger.
Troopers reported smelling alcohol and found beer cans at the scene. At the hospital, Texarkana Police noted Fannin had slurred speech, red eyes, and smelled of alcohol. She reportedly refused to identify the deceased passenger, claiming she couldn’t remember.
Fannin is jailed in Bowie County on $1.5 million bond and faces up to 20 years if convicted of intoxication manslaughter.
