Texarkana, Texas Police are investigating a fatal motorcycle crash that happened Friday evening.

Authorities say 53-year-old Russell Daily of Texarkana, Arkansas, was traveling east on West Seventh Street at a high rate of speed when he failed to make a curve near the CPKC Railroad underpass. His motorcycle left the roadway and struck a metal bench at a T-Line bus stop at Elm Street.

Daily was taken to CHRISTUS St. Michael Hospital, where he later died from his injuries.

Investigators say excessive speed and the use of a vehicle tire on the motorcycle contributed to the crash. Police also noted that Daily was not wearing a helmet.
