A Hempstead County jury has convicted a Hope man on methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia charges and sentenced him to 38 years in prison.

Forty-two-year-old Tommy J. Cole was found guilty of possession with intent to deliver methamphetamine within 1,000 feet of a designated school bus stop, along with possession of drug paraphernalia.

The charges stem from a July 2025 traffic stop on Highway 67 West in Hope. Investigators say Cole was found with more than 10 grams of methamphetamine.

Jurors also considered Cole’s criminal history, which included 23 prior felony convictions, before handing down the sentence.
