A Sevier County man has been formally charged with capital murder in the death of 2-year-old Ava Ann Marie Tabor.
Court records filed Tuesday show 20-year-old Wesley Davis is accused of fatally beating the child while babysitting her at a home in Lockesburg on March 1. Emergency responders found Ava with severe injuries, and she later died on March 4 at Arkansas Children’s Hospital in Little Rock.
Prosecutors added an enhancement for aggravating circumstances due to the victim’s age, which could justify a death sentence. Davis is being held in the Sevier County jail on $1 million bail. If convicted, he faces the death penalty or life in prison without parole.
