Drivers traveling through Texarkana will see a new traffic pattern on eastbound Interstate 30 once crews finish demolishing the FM 989/Kings Highway bridge later this week, weather permitting.
According to TxDOT, eastbound traffic will split west of Kings Highway. Motorists can use the new Exit 217 to access Kings Highway, FM 2148 and Pecan Street, while Exit 218 will provide access to other Texarkana destinations east of Pecan Street. The left through lane will continue on I-30 without a Texarkana exit.
Westbound I-30 will return to two side-by-side travel lanes with all ramps open. The updated traffic pattern is expected to remain in place until late summer 2027 as work continues on the I-30 widening project.
