A new trial has been scheduled for a Miller County man charged with capital murder after his first trial ended in a mistrial.
Judge Wren Autrey set an Aug. 4 pretrial hearing for Vance Allen Brown, with jury selection and trial scheduled to begin Aug. 31.
Brown is accused of fatally shooting 27-year-old Bonderick Nard at a home on Edwards Street in Texarkana, Arkansas, in August 2022.
During his first trial, Brown denied killing Nard and testified he was away from the home at the time of the shooting. Prosecutors argued the killing was planned and carried out by someone close to the victim.
A mistrial was declared May 29 after jurors were unable to reach a unanimous verdict.
