A routine conversation led to a foot chase and multiple charges for a Texarkana woman Sunday evening.
According to the Texarkana Texas Police Department, Officer Blake Lummus initially spoke with a woman near West 13th and Crockett Streets who identified herself as Nicole Riley. Minutes later, he learned the name was an alias used by 25-year-old Destiny Willis, who was wanted on an outstanding felony warrant.
When Officer Lummus tried to arrest Willis, she ran. During the struggle, police say she bit the officer twice, struck him, and continued resisting before Officer Hunter Lowery arrived to help.
Willis was taken to the Bi-State Jail and charged with evading arrest, resisting arrest, assault on a peace officer, failure to identify as a fugitive, and possession of drug paraphernalia. Her bond was set at $123,000. Officer Lummus was treated for bite injuries and is expected to make a full recovery.
