The Texarkana Arkansas School District has launched a new early literacy program called “Tiny Backs, Bright Tracks,” aimed at helping children from birth to age five build strong reading habits early.

Superintendent Dr. Lloyd Jackson says the goal is to support families before their children even enter school by encouraging parents to read aloud at home. The district is partnering with Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library, which will mail a free book each month to participating families, funded by the United Way of Greater Texarkana.

Christus St. Michael Regional Health System is also supporting the effort, helping reach thousands of local families. Enrollment is open now online or at the district office—and you don’t have to live in Texarkana, Arkansas to join.
