The City of Texarkana, Texas is asking residents to help choose the theme for new murals that will replace the iconic Kress Gap art on Broad Street. The current murals, which have been in place for more than five years, are being removed due to weather damage.
City officials say the wall was never meant to withstand outdoor art, and repairs are being made before new murals are installed.
The public can vote on one of three themes: regional legends and folklore, hidden wonders, or murals showcasing Texarkana’s identity. Voting ends October 3. Once a theme is chosen, artists will be invited to submit their designs.
