A truck driver was arrested for DWI after crashing his 18-wheeler late Wednesday night in Texarkana, knocking out power to parts of the city.
Police say it happened around 11:30 p.m. at New Boston Road and Taylor Street. The driver, 39-year-old Fredrick Beal of Texarkana, wasn’t hurt but was taken into custody for DWI with an open container and unlawfully carrying a weapon. He’s now being held at the Bi-State Jail.
Authorities say the truck left the road, hit a major power pole, and spilled its full load of lumber across the roadway, causing temporary outages and road closures.
